File-ID.org is a free, open-access file archiving service provided by Social Psychology Network, a nonprofit educational organization established in 1996.
What sort of files are archived?
A wide variety of files are archived, including images, slide presentations, text files, and data files. Most files relate to the social and behavioral sciences.
How many files are archived?
Currently, File-ID.org contains over files.
Can I search the archive?
Not at the present time. If the archive continues to grow, a search option might be added in the future.
What is a permalink?
When a file is added to the File-ID.org archive, it's automatically assigned a unique permalink, or web address, that can be used when referencing the file. For example, articles in scientific journals can use a permalink to cite a specific data file archived by the researchers.
How can I archive a file?
Anyone with a Social Psychology Network profile can archive files by opening the Files tab when editing their profile and clicking on the Upload button. For details, please see this video tutorial.
Who owns the archived files?
All archived files remain the property of the file owner -- Social Psychology Network claims no ownership of archived files.
Can an archived file be removed?
Yes, the person who archived a file can remove it at any time.
Can I download and use files from File-ID.org?
Visitors are welcome to download and use any archived file for nonprofit or journalistic purposes as long as they cite the source, including the relevant File-ID.org permalink. Please note, however, that data files must not be used to identify individual research participants or be distributed, published, or used for commercial purposes without the file owner's consent.
